Swords and Sandals I: Gladiator is the first in a line of classic, hand-held S&S games. This game was developed by Whiskeybarrel Studios.
What is Swords and Sandals?
The original S&S has always been based on the classic battles of ancient Rome and Greece, where characters like Julius Caesar, Antony, and Marcus Brutus fight against armies of the famous generals of the Roman Republic, the Greek city-states, or other civilizations.
These powers include throwing spears, shooting projectiles, summoning soldiers, and even summoning monsters. And then, once all of this is done, the battle is over, the characters are dead, and you see a cut scene of their funeral. Then you go back to the map, and you can see your next opponent ready to fight.
This is the basic format for every game, but the stories have also been expanded, and so have the maps and battles.
